Tour of the Frédérique Constant Manufacture
On November 11, 2021, a hundred of us gathered at ASAGE to discover or rediscover the fabulous world of Swiss watchmaking, and in particular that of the magnificent Frédérique Constant Manufacture.
Founded more than thirty years ago by Aletta and Peter Stas, a couple of independent entrepreneurs, Frédérique Constant manufactures high-quality Swiss watches at an affordable price, with the goal of making Swiss-made luxury timepieces accessible to everyone.
Now based in Plan-les-Ouates (GE), the Manufacture designs, develops, and assembles mechanical timepieces (30 in-house calibers, including the Tourbillon, the Perpetual Calendar, the Flyback Chronograph, and the Monolithic), as well as quartz and smartwatch calibers. After a welcome from Niels Eggerding, CEO of Frédérique Constant, we toured the various workshops (component manufacturing, movement assembly, quality control) as well as the interactive museum.
The Frédérique Constant team introduced us to the various watch brands belonging to the group (Frédérique Constant, Alpina Watches, Ateliers de Monaco). We were impressed by the major innovations of recent years, particularly the perpetual calendar and the Monolithic (an escapement made from a single piece of silicon that oscillates at a frequency of 40 Hz—ten times higher than that of most mechanical movements)!
We then had the chance to get together, chat over a delicious cocktail, and—for some of us—pick out a watch!
On behalf of ASAGE, we would like to thank our partner, Frédérique Constant, for the wonderful reception, as well as all of its teams who made this event possible.
