A Clear Perspective on an Unpredictable World: Remarks by Ambassador François Zimeray
François Zimeray is the French Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark and a former French Ambassador for Human Rights. In a world that is more uncertain than ever, this lawyer by training—who also served as a Member of the European Parliament—will shed light on the major contemporary issues. ASAGE will welcome this high-ranking diplomat, who narrowly escaped the Copenhagen attack on February 14, 2015, while participating in a debate on freedom of expression. As both a witness to and a participant in a changing world, we invited him to speak following the U.S. and French elections. François Zimeray has traveled through a world of tensions and conflicts, yet has always maintained his freedom of expression. The ambassador will shed light on the future of public affairs, the role of states and economic forces, diplomatic levers, and human universality. We felt this perspective was important in a world that must be able to rely on universal principles, particularly for ASAGE’s audience of businesspeople, scientists, and diplomats.
