{"id":44738,"date":"2019-10-04T09:43:19","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T07:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asage.ch\/september-12-2019-private-tour-of-the-un\/"},"modified":"2026-10-11T07:19:21","modified_gmt":"2026-10-11T05:19:21","slug":"september-12-2019-private-tour-of-the-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asage.ch\/en\/september-12-2019-private-tour-of-the-un\/","title":{"rendered":"September 12, 2019 &#8211; Private tour of the UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The \u201cPrivate Tour of the Palais des Nations\u201d event was a huge success, marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the League of Nations (the predecessor to the UN)!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Against this historical backdrop, ASAGE offered its alumni a private tour of the Palais des Nations, followed by an interactive lecture with Mr. Francisco Pisano (Head of the UN Library in Geneva).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15813 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/asage.ch\/asage\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4776-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"103\" height=\"138\"><\/p>\n<p>Organized by J\u00e9r\u00f4me Sauvegrain (AgroParisTech), this flagship event brought together 120 people and will be a memorable experience for all participants!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-15811 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/asage.ch\/asage\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4771-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"107\" height=\"143\"><\/em>In groups of about twenty people, accompanied by guides, we toured the United Nations headquarters in Geneva and explored several symbolic locations, such as the Human Rights Chamber, the Council Chamber, and the General Assembly Hall, where important negotiations and meetings have been held and continue to be held today<em>. <\/em> <em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the sun set, the tour continued on the rooftops of the Palais des Nations, offering a magnificent view of the Geneva harbor, Lake Geneva, and the Alps!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15839 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/asage.ch\/asage\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4844-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"140\">Next, Mr. Francisco Pisano spoke about the history and challenges of multilateralism and the key role of the UN as the \u201cconscience\u201d of the nations.
